Winners announced in the 11th Annual John Pappajohn Iowa Entrepreneurial Venture Competition

The 2016 John Pappajohn Iowa Entrepreneurial Venture Competition came to a close on August 25, 2016, with the announcement of the winners at a special recognition luncheon at Drake University in Des Moines.

Performance Livestock Analytics received first place and was awarded $25,000.

Performance Livestock Analytics has created a data-driven, real-time analytics system for precision livestock operations management. Through its Performance Beef product, a farm management platform for livestock producers, and through its Cattle Krush profit management application, the company helps the world’s livestock producers efficiently measure and manage activities and inventories as well as provides software analytics support for the entire livestock lifecycle.

Punctil/Virtual Waiting Rooms came in second place and was awarded $15,000.

Punctil Health is a software-as-a-service company offering punctuality solutions for healthcare.

Punctil Health aims to become the American patients virtual waiting room, allowing for same-day appointments and real-time service on arrival. Punctil’s goal is to simultaneously reduce wait-times, patient no-shows and bad debt, delivering value to American doctors and patients.

SwineTech received third place and was awarded $10,000.

SwineTech is dedicated to the production of swine farrowing monitoring systems to protect piglets’ lives and improve production. Last year in the United States, over 13 million piglets died due to being laid on by sows. This growing problem is costing the corporate sow farm over $276,000 a year, and it’s costing the United States pork industry over $689 million.
