The 2014 John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition came to a close on September 18 with the announcement of the winners at a special recognition luncheon at Drake University in Des Moines.
Pear Deck received first place and was awarded $25,000. Pear Deck is an EdTech startup powering active classrooms in Google Apps for Education schools by blending personalized and collaborative learning in one simple app. Pear Deck was started in 2014 and is located in Iowa City, IA.
Green Start LLC came in second place and was awarded $15,000. Green Start has created a paradigm shift for the treatment of water and waste water, the patented technology can deliver over 600 mg/l of dissolved oxygen, several times that of natural saturation of oxygen in water, in a nano/micro-bubble form. Green Start was launched in 2014 and is located in Le Claire, IA.
Iowa Adaptive Technologies received third place and was awarded $10,000. IAT addresses the needs of those who experience communication barriers caused by physical impairments. Iowa Adaptive Technologies was started in 2013 and is located in Iowa City, IA.
